Daintree Saltwater Barramundi started in 2002. Our farm is based on a 49 hectare property which is adjacent to the Daintree River. We have World Heritage Rainforest on one side and the Great Barrier Reef on the other. We have 14 large earthen ponds which occupy around 3.3 hectares. Of these, 12 are production ponds, 1 is a fingerling pond and 1 pond is utilised for recreational Barramundi fishing through our Hook-A-Barra brand of operations.
All of our ponds are filled with pristine water from the Daintree River and are carefully maintained to provide optimum growing and living conditions for our barramundi. We source our fingerlings from local hatcheries at around 100mm. They are then allowed to mature naturally, over a 12-18 month period, to commercial size using industry best practice and husbandry techniques, in accordance with strict environmental management guidelines
Aussie Barra is the best in the world. It’s full of vitamins and minerals and it tastes great.
